What do other IBS sufferers use as treatment?

I’ve had IBS for 4 years and have been on Zelnorm previously. I’m at point again where I can begin a new treatment and I’m looking to hear from other IBS patients on what they use or do. I’ve read a lot about using certain homeopathic treatments (such as herbs, psychiatrists and chiropracters). Basically I want to hear what everyone else uses and how well it works for them personally.

I have IBS with severe bloating, pressure pain, constapation and diarrea all complicated by menstrual cycle and stress.

I have tried the diet and it doesn’t work at all for me.
Once again I need to point out that I tried the diet for almost a year all that it caused was major constipation to the point that I had to be hospitalized to relieve it.

Thank you for the suggestions in this area though.

I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome also. I don’t use any medical drugs I have learned how to eat to stop the symptoms. First off you have to eliminate all fats. Fat is a big trigger food.

As a general rule, the grain and cereal foods at the top of this list make the safest, easiest, and most versatile soluble fiber foundations for your meals and snacks.

Rice, Pasta and noodles, Oatmeal, Barley, Fresh white breads such as French or sourdough (NOT whole wheat or whole grain)* Rice cereals, Flour tortillas, Soy, Corn meal, Potatoes, Carrots, Yams, Sweet potatoes, Turnips, Beets, Squash and pumpkins, Mushrooms, Chestnuts, Avocados (though they do have some fat), Bananas, Applesauce, Mangoes, Papayas (also digestive aids that relieve gas and indigestion)

*Please choose a baked-daily, high quality, preservative-free brand. White bread does not mean Wonder.

stay all way from high fiber foods until you learn how to eat correctly for this condition. I’m enclosing a link to a website that has the best information on how to take care of this condition that I have ever found.

It sounds like the diet was wrong. See this site for good diet and why. Then go to healing depression page and see how a guy got rid of Chrohn’s disease which is worse than IBS. Avoid drugs.

Take probiotics. Also fasting gives your bowel a vacation and it can heal itself. The best food for you is carrots. Also drink carrot juice (you can buy the powder and add it to juice or supermarkets have the Bolthouse Farms healthy juices). Also take greens drinks which you can learn about on page on nutrition.

Dr Walker healed many with IBS using carrot juice. One case out of 40,000 was so awful he had the guy consume only carrot juice for a year. Dr Norman Walker lived until 114. Here is Wikipedia on Walker
