Ginger tea speeds up digestion. Since coffee burns my stomach, I drink “Healthy Hot Chocolate,” which is unsweetened cocoa powder with honey and soy milk. That moves my stuff like espresso, minus the pain! Hmmm…. what else? I’m a fan of the whole grain mestermacher breads. Those rock. One slice has 20% of the fiber you need for one day. Amazake rice and nut drinks have 40% of the fiber you need for one day. There’s Smart Treat cookies with 20% and Bear Valley Meal Pack bars with 40%. Date bars like nectars and jocolats have 20-25% of the fiber you need for one day.

Personally, I stay away from laxatives, even natural ones like Senna. They flush me out so completely that I lose all of my digestive enzymes. When I eat after a cleanse, I have HORRIBLE gas and constipation. Actually, many doctors have warned IBS sufferers from laxatives, for this very reason, in the literature that I’ve read. Laxatives can cause constipation.

Psylllium fiber helps – metamucil good. i know everyone says not to use laxatives and i wouldn’t do it often, but Senna Prompt has both psyllium fiber and some senna, for when its really bad. so i use that. it’s hard to find in most drugstores but you can order it at medichest.com and probably some others. they’re the easiest though with good prices

Actually senna and psyllium husk can be very, very harsh on the digestive system for many people. I tried both before I knew this and was doubled over in severe pain and didn’t help my c.

Honey is has no nutritional value and is the same as high fructose corn syrup . Enfants under 12 months can’t even eat it because they could develop botulism.

I blended a cup of spinach and 1/3 cup of cut, peeled, raw butternut squash in the blinder and it worked great for my bowel movement! It is extremely nutritious and healthier than laxatives also a meal in itself.

Fresh fruits like apples, pears, plums, grapes will stimulate movement of food down the digestive tract. Walking 4-5 kms. after dinner is highly beneficial as it helps in the digestion of food.

      This comment is for Alicia.

Wow, where do you get your info? You are very wrong about honey (although it is true that infants, not “Enfants”, shouldn’t have it). And you can’t spell, so no more comments from the peanut gallery. Sorry, just had to get that out.

Nothing is ever the same for everyone as far as what works or not. I wanted to share something that helped me recently though, in case it works for someone else. I was told almost 20 years ago that I had a “very sensitive stomach” it is of course now called IBS. I had been dealing with it for years, when by chance because of a throat issue I had I went to another doctor to have an endoscope done. While it showed nothing to explain the problems the doctor asked me if I had ever had my gallbladder tested to see if it was functioning right. I told her no, and we set up the testing. After the test was done she informed me that it wasn’t working right, it was full of “sludge” that wasn’t moving correctly. Having had it out my IBS symptoms have all but ceased, and this is only a few weeks after the surgery. Like I said… it may not work for everyone, and might not be something causing you problems… but no doctor had ever mentioned it to me before, and had she not… I might still be suffering like I was before.

Colon is definitely the organ that’s most unnoticed & least recognized. The colon must be cleaned out from the collected build up in which accumulate at this time there with time. The least heavy approach on how to thoroughly clean your colon to aid your colon is to always simply just produce some changes in your diet plan & lifestyle to clean.

I heard that the FDA banned the use of Cascara Sagrada in over the counter laxatives. The FDA claims that long term use of Cascara Segrada causes Rectal Cancer.I have never used over the counter laxatives like Exlax or Milk of Magnesia. I have always used the Cascara that you buy In a health food store. What am I going to use for constipation?
