I have IBS and an anal fissure which is causing me extreme pain - can anyone suggest anything?

Meme asked:
I have been using Prep H wipes when I go to the loo and Germoloids ointment and suppositories to help with the fissure. Unfortunately both of the Germoloids products say not to use more than four times in any 24 hour period - as I’m going to the loo much more than this (because of the IBS), and each time I do the fissure opens up again, I need something else to help. Can anyone give any other advice please?

Awww….. Poor thing! I can’t offer you anything but prayer!!! HUGS!!!! You’re in my thoughts!!!
I empathise totally. IBS is bad enough without the added pain of a fissure. I know the usual advice for anal fissure is to drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of dietary fibre to keep the stool soft and use local anaesthetic creams and hot baths for pain relief, which I am sure you are doing, but as you well know IBS has a mind of its own when it comes to what kind of stools you produce. A relatively new and effective treatment of anal fissure is Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) ointment, which is thought to work by reducing anal spasm and increasing blood flow , helping to reduce pain and heal the fissure more quickly. Make an appointment and discuss it with your GP. All the best.
Absolute best advice I can give you is to seek the opinion of a qualified medical doctor. This is not the place to be looking for good medical advice. Your health is too important to look to a bunch of amateurs for advice.
