During pancreatitis attacs, the amylase and lipase start going up out of range, and can really go way out of range causing other problems which are life threatening. The abdominal pain experienced with pancreatitis is really bad.
If you have irritable bowel, the pain comes and goes. The labs are usually unaffected and the pain is not as severe.
Pancreatitis can be life threatening. Irritable bowel is not life threatening and is usually accompanied by gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation and passes and isnt such a big deal.
